Bangkok ya'll
Weds 27 June
Arriving in the evening to Bangkok we
get onto the train and head to the new hood that we be staying in,
Lumpini. We get to our hotel easy
as, so totes stoked we go to check in, and turns out that ell had only booked
for 1 person, ooopsies but he managed to wrangle 1 night free for us so we only
have to pay 2 nights for 1 person – better than 3, so that keffuffle took
awhile to sort out, and it was 11pmish when we headed out to get us some
foodies.

Thurs 28 June
The room came with a
free buffet breakfast, dam it was a mighty spread so we stocked up for the day
in the morning before we missioned out to get our clothes from storage, which
was a long 1 hour walk in the warm down the road. Ell discovered that his shoes had been stolen from our bag
when we were on the bus in Surathani (he thought they were but could not
remember if he had put them in storage before we left, picking up the clothes
his fears were confirmed and his fav pair of shoes had been nicked). After our clothes were retrieved we
headed out to do some more exploring.

Checked out a few markets, and headed to
Pat Pong night market – this is a well known ping pong show area too, there are
heaps of seedy dudes with “pussy menus” with lists of things that go in these
places, and yes we went to one, and were told that it only cost 100baht (4-5ish
nz dollar) and so we went in, saw the following things done with the fanfan :
whistle blowing, horn blowing, popping bottle caps off, darts popping balloons,
2 meters of flower rope pulled out, and a sparkler!!! A freaking sparkler. Then one of the ladies walks out with a basket of ping pongs and were
like oh here we go, nek minit this butch as thai lady bouncer thing comes up
and slaps us with a bill of 2600baht (80ishnz) were like whhhhhat the fuck we
were told it was only 100 each, so went up to the bar “to pay” and gave them
200 and gapzd, I was totally freaked out and pissed off that we got so scammed,
but was also not surprised.

When we
were walking back to the train we bumped into the English couple again (Lindsay
and Gareth) and the same thing happened to them at the same bar and hour and
half earlier, small small world, so we went and got some drinks with them.
Fri 29 June
We had good intentions
of more exploring today, we had planned to go check out Koh San Road and a few
more temples, however we lazed about and headed out around 2 and were too late
to into places so just walked around and mooched.
This is the king, they have heaps of these shrine like things dedicated to him around the place
